The questions we get most.
If your question isn't here, the quickest answer is a 5-minute call. Phone, WhatsApp or email — we reply within one working day.
Are you actually qualified?
Yes. We're Licensed Members of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) — practice licence 1007133, qualified since 2011. The AAT supervises our AML compliance, holds us to a strict code of ethics, and requires ongoing professional development each year. We're also HMRC-recognised agents, Xero Certified Partners and QuickBooks ProAdvisors.
I want to switch from my current accountant — what's involved?
We handle the entire switch. You sign one Letter of Engagement; we send the standard 'professional clearance' letter to your existing accountant; they hand over the records; we onboard you onto our portal. The whole thing usually takes 5–10 business days. You don't need to call your current accountant — we do that for you.
What software do you use?
We're certified on Xero and QuickBooks — you keep your existing subscription or we set up a new one and pass the partner discount through to you. If you're not on cloud accounting yet, we'll migrate you. For receipt capture we use Dext or Hubdoc. For MTD ITSA submissions we file directly through HMRC's API.
What does 'fixed fee' actually mean?
We agree your annual fee on a Letter of Engagement before we start any work. That fee covers all the work in scope (your accounts, returns, calls, emails, portal messages). If the scope changes materially — new business, big property purchase, an HMRC investigation — we tell you the new number before we do the work. There's no hourly billing and no surprise invoices for 'just asking a question.'
Do I need to do anything for Making Tax Digital (MTD)?
If you're self-employed or a landlord earning over £50k, MTD ITSA started for you in April 2026 — you now submit quarterly updates to HMRC. We handle all five touchpoints (four quarterly updates plus the End of Period Statement) and the final Self Assessment. The threshold drops to £30k in April 2027 and £20k in April 2028. We onboard you early so your data and processes are ready when your wave starts.
Where are you based? Do I need to visit?
Our office is at 1st Floor, 784 Uxbridge Road, Hayes UB4 0RS — a 10-minute walk from Hayes & Harlington on the Elizabeth line. About 60% of our clients are outside London and we never meet face-to-face. Everything runs through the portal, video calls and WhatsApp. If you want to come in for a coffee, you're welcome.
What happens if HMRC opens an enquiry?
We handle the correspondence at no extra charge for routine queries. Full investigations (more than ~10 hours of work) we quote separately, but we keep working with you until it's closed. Our professional indemnity insurance covers you for our advice.
