Getting started
How do I switch from my current accountant?
We handle the whole transfer. You sign one Letter of Engagement; we send a 'professional clearance' email to your current accountant for your records. Usually takes 5–10 business days end-to-end. You don't need to call them.
What does the free consultation actually cover?
20 minutes — we ask about your setup, what's working, what isn't, and what you want to spend less time thinking about. If we're a fit, we send a quote the same day. If we aren't, we'll point you at a firm that is.
Do I need to be in London?
No. About 60% of our clients are outside London. Everything runs through the portal; we meet in person, on a call, or on WhatsApp — whichever you prefer.
MTD ITSA
Who needs to do MTD ITSA?
From April 2026: self-employed people and landlords with combined income over £50k. From April 2027: over £30k. From April 2028: over £20k. If you're over the threshold for your wave you must keep digital records and file quarterly.
Will MTD increase my tax bill?
No — MTD is a reporting change, not a tax change. The total tax you owe across the year is the same as under Self Assessment.
What happens if I miss a quarterly submission?
HMRC uses a points-based penalty system. Each missed submission earns a point; after 4 points you get a £200 penalty, and another £200 for each further missed submission. We won't let you accumulate points — we file on your behalf and chase you for what we need.
Pricing
Are your fees really fixed?
Yes. One annual number, quoted up front, on a Letter of Engagement. If the scope of work materially changes (new business, big property purchase, HMRC investigation), we tell you the new number before we start work — never after.
Do you charge for phone calls or emails?
No. Calls and portal messages are included in the annual fee. The only things billed separately are the add-ons listed on the pricing page (VAT, payroll, pension setup, etc.).
Do you offer monthly payment?
Yes — we can split the annual fee into 12 standing-order payments. Most clients prefer this. Direct debit setup is included.
Compliance & regulation
Are you regulated?
Yes — we hold an AAT Licensed Member practice licence, which means we're supervised for AML (Anti-Money Laundering) by the AAT. We're also ICO-registered as a data controller and HMRC-recognised for MTD VAT and MTD ITSA.
What ID do I need to send for AML?
One photo ID (passport or driving licence) and one proof of address dated within the last three months (utility bill, bank statement, council tax). You upload them through the portal — fully encrypted.
Where is my data stored?
On UK servers. We don't send your data outside the UK except where you've specifically opted into a third-party tool (Xero, QuickBooks, Stripe) that has its own data residency rules.
